This information covers one year. For dates for future years select the links from the box on the right > > >
At these times of the year there will be all kinds of local and national events to visit. However, keep it in mind that the population of NZ will also be on holiday at the same time.
Competition for accommodation and travel is high during New Zealand public holidays so be sure to book well in advance.
Keep it in mind that a lot of shops, garages, and other places you would normally expect to be open for business may well be closed on some of these days.

Some of the above New Zealand public holidays 2010 are officially taken as the following working day if the holiday date falls on a weekend day. This is in place so that working New Zealanders do not miss having a day off work for the public holiday. For example, if the holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday is taken as the holiday day. It is therefore advisable to check the dates of public holiday events in advance of travel to ensure you know the exact date of the event.
The venue of any event will be able to advise you of any day changes for any particular year according to the public holiday. You don't want to arrive a day early or a day late!
