We planned a visit to the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park for NZ birds and reptiles on the way to the Waitomo Caves as part of our holiday itinerary.
The bird and reptile park is actually only a 15 minute drive from the Waitomo Caves so was a good stop to make during our tour of the North Island.
The Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park is under ownership of the Otorohanga Zoological Society Inc.
This is a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to playing a part in the conservation of New Zealand's native wildlife through a programme of breeding, education, and display for the many visitors that pass this way every year.
I'm really glad we took the time to visit this park because it was an amazing place and it provided the opportunity to see many New Zealand birds and reptiles that we would otherwise not have been able to see and I fully recommend it.

The park is open every day except Christmas day.
If you are staying overnight in the area you may be interested in arranging to have a night-time encounter at the park. Great for seeing the kiwi as they are nocturnal!
Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park is located at the physical address: Alex Telfer Drive, Otorohanga 3900, New Zealand (North Island)
