Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park
New Zealand

We planned a visit to the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park for NZ birds and reptiles on the way to the Waitomo Caves as part of our holiday itinerary.

The bird and reptile park is actually only a 15 minute drive from the Waitomo Caves so was a good stop to make during our North Island tour.

The Otorohanga park is under ownership of an organisation that has complete dedication to helping conserve the native wildlife, Otorohanga Zoological Society.

I'm really glad we took the time to visit this park because it was an amazing place and it provided the opportunity to see many New Zealand birds and reptiles that we would otherwise not have been able to see and I fully recommend it.

Stay overnight nearby and have an amazing night-time encounter at the park. Great for seeing the kiwi as they are nocturnal!
