Waitomo Caves New Zealand

Our travel itinerary took us down to Waitomo Caves New Zealand for a guided walk and boat ride through the world famous limestone and glowworm caves.

This was an absolutely awesome experience and as it was out of the main holiday season there wasn't too many other tourists around.

The Waitomo Caves are approximately 2 hours south of Auckland. Take State Highway 1 to Hamilton, then a 1 hour drive south of Hamilton on State Highway 3, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves can be found 8km along Waitomo Caves Road, off State Highway 3 (2 hours to the west of Rotorua).

These Waitomo region attractions include the Ruakuri Cave, Aranui Cave, and the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves.

All of these ancient caves of limestone formations, rivers, waterfalls, and glow-worms provide unique and unforgettable experiences.

Also, if you want to take in an adventure in real kiwi style, you can experience the Black Water Rafting.
